The project, Visit Bhubaneswar, is envisioned to be the first-of-it-kind in Odisha, and strives to create a new identity for Bhubaneswar city through several city branding initiatives like developing promotional strategies, guided city tours and walks, pop-up events, creating branding collaterals (city maps, city magazine and other merchandise), Hop-On Hop-Off Bus services etc. The intent of the project is to promote the city to local, national and international audiences as an emerging and dynamic place to live, visit, work, study, invest and play in the Indian sub-continent.
As part of the Visit Bhubaneswar Project, Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has developed “Visit Bhubaneswar” Website which will provide details of all places of tourist importance and all other vital information & as required by tourists and visitors to the city. The website has been launched by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Odisha on 12th April, 2018.
This all-in-one city website showcases the city and its rich heritage, art, culture, architecture, cuisines and traditions. This portal shall present a visual walkthrough of the entire city with interesting photographs and videos on the city.
The portal has five major segments:
Under explore segment detailed description with photographs is provided for heritage circuits, temples, parks and recreation facilities, shopping centers and gateways. Under experience segment museums, tours & shows, festivals, events & exhibitions and sports events in the city shall be covered.
Visitors can find details with photographs on the best places to stay in Bhubaneswar including government accommodations, budget hotels and luxury hotels. For the foodies, the portal gives information on multi-cuisine restaurants in the city along with exclusive Odia cuisines, temple cuisines, and local sweets delicacies. To the culinary enthusiasts who wish to try preparing typical Odia dishes, the portal has a special segment under “Learn Local” in taste segment.
History and evolution of Bhubaneswar is documented and presented under ‘This is Bhubaneswar’. This also showcases the best of art and crafts in the city along with vivid presentation of must see places in the city. This segment also provides weather, event calendar and important tourist information such as transport, emergency contacts, and safety tips along with easy communication tips for conversing in vernacular Odia language.
